Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Here at Hoot HQ, we’ve been busy shipping out our first release of sheets! We are proud about the work we put in to ensure these sheets were made using the most sustainable fiber and responsible production possible.

But what about your old sheets? The textile industry is the second most polluting industry in the world, behind only oil, largely due to the amount of waste created. In New York State alone, residents and businesses throw out almost 1.4 billion pounds of usable and recyclable textiles annually.

Though recycling textiles is a difficult task, we feel strongly about contributing to a circular textile economy and minimizing Hoot’s impact on the earth.

To start, we are partnering with Wearable Collections (another Brooklyn-based company!), which gathers and sorts textiles for reuse and recycling. For all customers located in New York City, we will be spending this upcoming Saturday July 28th hand-delivering new orders and picking up all your old clothing and sheets.

For customers located outside the five boroughs, we are working on a nationwide mail-in take back program for your old sheets.

We are committed to driving industry change and know we have a long way to go. Please feel free to contact us with questions or additional ideas for improving our recycling initiative.
